Hey Everybody,
Just putting in my 2bobs worth & let u know how i am surviving. We r still having a ball, managing not to strangle each other yet, considering we r in each others pocket 24/7. The camping is g8 & challenging to say the least, hence the time of yr that it now is. We have only coped bad weather in Port Lincoln, the nights r now starting to get extremely chilly, the 5 layers of clothes, 2 beanies, gloves, scarf, may just give u an idea of how we r feeling & coping. Never the less, i have still managed to convince Darren to snorkel & swim in the beautiful crystal clear waters, although we only manage to last 30 to 40min, before we start to shiver uncontrollably & then takes us a few hours to recover & thaw out. The marine life under the Jetty's & the colors of the seagrass, fish, shells, etc r just amazing. It is so comforting to just sit by the ocean/ bays/beaches, even if u have to rug up & enjoy the scenery, dolphins passing by, pelicans gliding in, people of all walks of life fishing, having chats with locals or travellers. Then in contrast we have gone inland to the National parks & found them, arid, full of rocks, bolders, shear cliff walls in the gorge's, amazing colours that the pictures do not do them justice. I think that we have seen every type of kangaroo/wallabies, also heaps of rabbits, emus, hawks of all sorts, even the rare yellow footed rock wallabies, lizards, a few snakes, lots of various birds, ferral goats, cats, foxes, the land is harsh but beautiful in its own right. So hard to imagine how the people from yester year managed to survive in these harsh conditions. Still tagging behind Darren in hiking, (i dont think that i will ever be able to reach his level of mountian climbing or trekking), but i am giving it a good go & have only piked out twice in hiking with him. This trip has opened my eyes even more to how appreciative i am in being able to do this trip with a friend like Darren, who has allowed us to see & experience so much. I will be able to talk about these stories for a long time to come (look out everyone LOL). Anyway we should be heading across the Nullarbor Plains by sunday finally. Thanku to everyone, who r leaving messages, calling us, emailing us, as we miss everyone & look forward to our laughs & chats upon our return. Cheers Josie & as i always say, Keep Smiling
